Careers in administration: Fast track to success
The rapid growth of Uganda over the past few years has pushed demand for qualified and competent personnel to manage administrative tasks. While companies are growing, they often have to implement complex communication processes and information systems that need to be maintained. Administrative staff are hired to relieve managers from having to deal with these complex processes and allow them to focus on the actual decision-making and management.
As well as that, there are many companies being created every year, and the successful ones are often looking to expand, in which case they will need their managers to take care of operations in a given city or country. How do I land a job in administration?
The easiest way for you to fill an administration vacancy is if you hold a diploma in business administration, or in a related field such as accounting or law. However, if you don’t, you can still apply for an entry level position. Having some knowledge of office software (such as Microsoft Office for example) or some working experience in organization or administration will go a long way, but it is not a requirement. You might want to consider taking a relevant course to speed up your career.
In order to be effective in an administration job, you’ll need to have both a structured mind and great people skills since managers have to deal both with numbers and people.
